Why is breathing good for your skin?
It's a simple practice that we take for granted, but holds the most powerful healing capacity of all: breathing.
Thanks to the rising popularity of holistic practices such as yoga and meditation, the power of breathing is becoming a well known technique to counter stress, anxiety, and encourage calm and clear thinking.
But why is breathing good for your skin?

The old adage 'beautiful skin starts from within' is often interpreted solely based on consumption: what you're eating, how much water you're drinking, your exposure to chemicals, and so on. But 'within' also refers to your emotional state. Stress and tension shows outwardly in tense muscles and frown lines. Happiness truly does shine through into physical beauty.
On a practical level, breathing is good for your skin because it draws in oxygen - which benefits the body in more ways than one. Performing breathing exercises slows your heart rate and controls your blood flow, relaxes tense muscles, and carries oxygen around the body. Healthy, oxygenated blood flow will slow the aging process by reducing free radicals and cleansing your body of toxins. Breathing deeply encourages restful sleep, which counteracts dark circles.

Take time out of your day to stop, and breathe deeply.[/caption]
Deep breathing also has shown to reduce the 'stress toxins' of cortisol and lactate, which in excess can lead to lower resistance of the body against toxins. Less toxins obviously means better skin.
