Spring clean your skin!
Coming out of the cooler months and preparing to face the summer sun can be a tricky transition. The shift in weather can cause inflamed skin, oily spots, and sun damage.
The key to maintaining great, fresh looking skin all year round really just comes down to adjusting what you feed your skin according to the seasons. And when we say feed, we mean both what you put on your skin, and in your mouth! Here are our top tips to Spring Cleaning Your Skin! [caption id="attachment_2658" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Our Soothe Cleansing Oil and Replenish Elixir make a great wash/moisture combo for the spring months.[/caption] Exfoliate your winter away.Out with the old, in with the new. Gentle exfoliation on your face will remove the dry and dead skin cells on the top of your skin, and clear away any dirt and grime clogging your pores. Opt for a lighter moisturiser. When choosing a moisturiser for spring, go for something lighter than what you were using in winter. Light facial oils (as opposed to creams) penetrate deeper and allow the active ingredients to work their magic – we love our Synthesis Brighten Vitamin C Serum. It’s packed with 12 active and organic ingredients to lighten and even your skin tone for a spring glow. Lose the heavy make up.In winter, our skin loses its sun-kissed glow, driving many of us to pack on heavy foundation, powders, and other makeup. Now that it’s spring, try to go a little lighter on the application – it will allow your skin to breathe and retain moisture. Better still, go for a light facial sunscreen that has a built-in tint.Hydrate from the inside. With the increase in temperature, your body will be craving more water than it did in the cooler months. As the body’s largest organ, your skin will be the first to show signs of dehydration – so aim to drink at least 2 litres of water a day. Sound like a lot? It’s only around 8 glasses…one glass an hour for each hour you’re at work. Easy! [caption id="attachment_2659" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Need some drinking water inspiration? Try adding fruit and fresh herbs for something extra. (Image via stylemepretty.com)[/caption] Ditch the chemicals. The best spring clean your body can get is losing your chemical-based skin products! Many of us opt for a powerful, chemical-based cleanser to clear off our make-up at the end of the day. Stop and consider the consequences – these products sap your skin of any natural oils and cause dryness and irritation. To cleanse, use our Soothe Cleansing Oil and a soft, damp face cloth – it’s just as effective and will keep your skin moist and supple.FINAL TIP: For a real spring clean, take an hour and assess your bathroom cabinet. Are any of your products passed their used by date? Are you hoarding empty bottles and dried out make up? Get rid of it! A clear space gives you a clear mind.We hope you're enjoying the start of a beautiful spring season here in Australia! Until next time, Theme x
