Star Ingredient: Kakadu Plum

We only have to took around our amazing native landscape to be inspired when it comes to Synthesis products. Tapping into the natural resources of our ancient land brings to our skin benefits that modern chemicals never could. One of our favourite natural Australian ingredients we love to use is the green Kakadu Plum. [caption id="attachment_3491" align="aligncenter" width="1000"]img462 The Kakadu Plum is small and round, around the same size as a walnut.[/caption]   What is the Kakadu Plum? The Kakadu Plum is officially known as Terminalia ferdinandiana, but can also be named gubinge, billygoat plum, green plum or murunga. It's found up from the north-western plains of Western Australia right up to the northern tip of Arnhem Land. Small, green, and firm; the creamy white flesh is usually eaten raw. The Kakadu Plum has long being used by the indigenous Australians  - the flesh, which is extremely highly concentrated in vitamin C, was eaten on long treks; whilst the tree bark was used to treat skin infections, boils, wounds or sores. [caption id="attachment_3492" align="aligncenter" width="640"]planchonia-5 The creamy inside flesh is stringy and full of vitamin C.[/caption]   Why do we use it? The Kakadu Plum cellular extract that we use at Synthesis is the world's first stable vitamin C, with the highest concentration of any fruit.  An orange, for example, contains 53mg of Vitamin C per 100g, with the Kakadu Plum boasting over 3,700mg of Vitamin C! What effects will it have on my skin? The vitamin C found in Kakadu Plum is a potent natural antioxidant, that triggers amazing natural responses in your delicate facial skin. You can expect:

  • Reduced wrinkles.
  • Improved skin texture.
  • Enhanced brightness, radiance and luminosity.
  • Increased collagen synthesis.
  • Improved elasticity.
In what Synthesis products does it feature? We use the Kakadu Plum extract as an active ingredient in the products that are working to improve your skin texture and appearance.
